At the 2007 Delta Sig Convention, the Fraternity’s award winners were announced. The list of winners and a short description of each are below.
Individual Awards
Ideals Awards
Delta Awards – Culture - for the encouragement of the individual, the chapter and the community in their pursuit of knowledge and intellectual development.
- Jon Gundlach, Oglethorpe ’87, for his service to his state as the President of the Henderson Mental Health Center
- Jim Rath, UW Oshkosh ’71, for his service to his university as the founder of the Jack Bucklin Scholarship Program
Sigma Awards – Harmony - for their commitment to our high standards of moral conduct and the betterment of the world around them through cooperation with others.
- Dave Glerum, Stetson ’06, for his service to his community as the coordinator of the chapter’s service project with the Hontoon Island State Park
- Bob Kennel, NC State ’57, for his service as the Executive Director of the Council of UNC Alumni Association Presidents, which represents the interests of 100,000 members of public universities in North Carolina
- Adeel Khan, Virginia Tech ’06, for his service to his campus community as President of Hokies United at Virginia Tech after the tragic incident in April on campus
- Todd McPherson, Johnson & Wales ’90, for his service as the Event Coordinator of the Elephant Rock charity bicycle ride, with 7,800 riders, in its 20th year that raises money each year for children with Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, and for the Colorado Neurological Institute center of Brain and Spinal Tumors
Phi Awards – Friendship - for their lifelong service to others based upon the values of honesty, integrity and care as forged by their commitment to our Ritual.
- John Cerqueira, NC State ’98, for his service to mankind, and his selfless concern for the welfare of others during the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center
- Mike Falkowitz, Hartford ’95, for his service to an ever-growing number of chapters over the past several years in the field of recruitment, and because of the tremendous results of his efforts
- John Knowles, Western Michigan ’99, for his service to the Fraternity over the past two years as a member of the Regional Restructuring Committee, the Ritual Review Committee, the Nominations Committee, and his service as a Deputy Regional Commissioner as well as his service as Chapter Advisor for the Alpha Pi chapter at Michigan
Charles G. Bartell Award (Outstanding Chapter Advisor)
- Art Richard, Tulane ’59, Chapter Advisor for the Theta Chi chapter at the University of Georgia.
Grand Council Award
- Mark Johnson, San Diego State ’83, for his outstanding work as the Fraternity’s National Commissioner.
Russell T. Roebuck Award (Outstanding National Volunteer)
- Jason DeKeuster, UW Eau Claire ’95, for his work as the Regional Commissioner for the Southeast Region
