The principles of Engineered Leadership contributed to my winning the E. Allen James award in 1984 and continue to serve me in my professional and personal endeavors.

Dan KitrellI attended my first Delta Sigma Phi National Convention in St. Louis in 1980. During the evening award ceremonies, I had the good fortune to be sitting with Terry Buttchen (Epsilon Delta) when he was recognized as the Outstanding Active. In speaking with Terry following the ceremony, I was inspired and motivated to reach higher and make a difference during my four years at St. Cloud State University (Zeta Xi).

These principles continue to drive me professionally and personally. I am currently a Vice President within TNS – one of the largest research companies in the world. However, I am most proud of my work as a foster parent and as an advocate for abused children. This is a very personal mission for me because I have lost a foster child to abuse suffered at the hands of her biological father. The commitment to causes that are greater than one’s self and the discipline engrained through the principles of Engineered Leadership enable me to pursue positive changes from this tragic loss.

I welcome the support and efforts from other brothers that may be committed to similar causes.
